MVEA Members who drop off non-LED strands before Jan. 31 receive bill credit
Falcon, CO – If you are still using incandescent decorative lighting to show your holiday cheer, you are paying more than your neighbors who have made the switch to energy efficient LED options.
Mountain View Electric Association, Inc. (MVEA) wants to help members make the energy efficiency switch this holiday season with their Christmas Light Round Up! Co-op members who drop off incandescent C7 and C9 light strands at an MVEA office, will receive a $5 per strand bill credit. MVEA will take up to 10 strands per account, meaning members could earn up to a $50 credit on their next electric bill. ‘Tis the season to save!
Incandescent light strands (C7 or C9) are being collected now through January 31 at all of MVEA’s three convenient locations (Falcon, Monument, or Limon) Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. through 5:30 p.m.
MVEA’s Christmas Light Round Up launched in 2016. In just two years, 2,568 energy hogging incandescent holiday light strands have been turned in, and members have received $12,840 worth of account credits. This year’s goal is to collect 1,000 strands of lights and issue $5,000 in credits to members. MVEA reports that as of December 11, they are already more than half way to their goal with 699 strands collected from 113 members!
