If you plan to install a hot tub, machine shop, electric vehicle charger, or any other item that will increase your electricity usage you may need to upgrade your electric service.
Things to Consider
- Please keep in mind that MVEA’s responsibility does not extend beyond the point of demarcation. You may need to upgrade your member-owned facilities. Contact your electrician for more information.
- The point of demarcation is defined as follows:
- If the meter is on the house and fed overhead the point of demarcation is the masthead.
- If the meter is on the house and fed underground the point of demarcation will be a secondary junction cabinet.
- If the meter is in a pedestal, that is the point of demarcation.
- If the meter is on a pole, the association will work with you to relocate it to your house or a pedestal and the point of demarcation will be as described above.
- Any request exceeding 200 amperes will require a $500 engineering fee.
- All upgrades will require a completed load data sheet.
Step 1: Complete Required Load Sheets
A Load Data Sheet is required for all MVEA electric projects. Completely fill out and sign the Load Data Sheet which can be found below before submitting it to MVEA. Please remember to sign the load sheet before submitting it to MVEA.
