Capital Credits:
Members are eligible to receive an allocation of capital credits every year. An allocation is a member's share of the net margins (excess of revenue after expenses). The Association sets aside the net margins into a separate account with the member's name on it to be used as operating capital for reliability improvements and maintenance over a period of years. A retirement is the amount the member receives back from the member's capital credits allocation. The amount retired is decided annually by the Association Board of Directors. In order to ensure receipt of the capital credits retirement distribution, it is important for the member to keep the Association informed of their current address for 20 years after closing the account. Any funds to be paid to a member will first be reduced by any amounts due to the Association. Capital credits checks are mailed to the last known address. If it is returned by the post office, member names who have unclaimed capital credits are listed on our website. If the money goes unclaimed for 6 years, it is returned to the Association.
The member agrees to the following terms and conditions:
- The member has authority or permission to apply for service at the property address.
- Member agrees to purchase electric service from the Association and to pay for all electric service used at the rates specified in the Association's Tariffs, including minimum charges.
- Bills are due and payable upon receipt. Failure to receive a bill in no way exempts a member from the timely payment for service rendered.
- The Association will make every reasonable effort to provide continuous, reliable electric service to its members. The Association will use reasonable diligence to provide and maintain uninterrupted service, but in case of cessation, deficiency, variation in voltage, or any other failure or reversal of the service resulting from acts of God, public enemies, accidents, strikes, riots, wars, repairs, orders of Court, or incurred by the appliances installed by or from the member, or other acts reasonably beyond the control of the Association, The Association will not be liable for damages, direct or consequential, resulting from such interruption or failure, nor is the Association liable for damages that may be incurred due to the presence of the Association's property on the member's premises. The member understands and agrees that the Association's responsibility does not extend beyond the service delivery point or meter socket.
Service requirements:
- The member agrees, without cost, to grant the Association such easements and rights of way including ingress and egress over, on, and under all lands owned, leased, or mortgaged by the member on such reasonable terms and conditions as the Association shall require, for the furnishing of electric service to the member or to any other members, and for construction, operation, maintenance, enlargement, inspecting, meter reading and relocation of electric facilities needed for such purpose, including the right to clear, cut and trim trees or shrubbery near any lines and equipment.
- Responsibility for the installation of voltage protection equipment lies with the member.
- Upon member's request, the Association will install, own, and maintain an outdoor light which will be lit from dusk to dawn at the rate specified in the Association's Tariffs. If there is an existing outdoor light owned by the Association, the new member would be responsible for paying the monthly service fee determined by the rate in our Rules and Regulations.
- It is the responsibility of the member to meet all of the requirements of the inspection authority. The Association is permitted to install a meter for new service only after approval by the inspection authority.
- The rate capacity of single-phase motors will not be in excess of ten horsepower (10HP) unless written approval is received from the Association.
- The Association reserves the right to prohibit the use and may require the modification or removal of equipment that the Association believes would adversely affect the electric service of other members.
- All equipment supplied by the Association for the use of each member has a definite capacity and it will be the member's responsibility to notify the Association in writing before any changes are made in the load characteristics of the member's installation. Member will be liable for any damage caused to the Association's meters, accessories, transformers, or wire caused by additions or changes to member's installation.
