Falcon, CO – Mountain View Electric Association, Inc. recently named Cole Oursler as Information Services Manager. Oursler will be responsible for the cooperative’s cybersecurity, data management, technology updates, and overseeing the remainder of MVEA’s digital meter upgrade.
Oursler was promoted from MVEA’s Information Technology Supervisor to Information Services Manager; he has been employed at MVEA for over two and a half years. Prior to joining MVEA, Oursler was employed at Wheatland Electric Cooperative in Garden City, KS, where he served as the IT Specialist. There, he developed a passion for electric co-ops and serving members.
“The most important part of technology is the end user – our members and our employees. My goal is to ensure that MVEA continues to have reliable and secure IT infrastructure in place. Keeping our members’ information safe is a top priority,” Oursler said. “I also enjoy working with employees to provide them with the technology needed to best serve the growing needs of our membership.”
Oursler has broad IT and cyber-physical systems experience. He holds a Bachelor of Science in information networking and telecommunication from Fort Hays State University and is working towards his master’s degree in cybersecurity from Georgia Tech. He also holds several elite credentials including Certified Ethical Hacker from the EC-Council and the Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) from (ISC)2. The CISSP certification is considered the gold standard in IT security certificates because of the breadth of information the test covers.
“It gives me a lot of pride to be part of MVEA’s Executive Team. I look forward to helping shape the strategy and direction of our cooperative,” Oursler said. “It’s essential that we have a positive impact on the lives of our members – there is nothing more important than our mission to provide safe and reliable power.”
