Award-winning Event will Feature High-Voltage Demo, Pole-Top Rescue and AirLife Transport Demo
What if your vehicle hit a power pole, would you get out or stay in your car? The wrong decision could lead to a deadly situation. Mountain View Electric Association, Inc. (MVEA) with K.C. Electric Association, Inc. (KC) is taking electrical safety awareness to a dramatic new level with Live Wires and First Responders. The second annual electrical safety training event will be held on Thursday, April 27 from 9 a.m to 11 a.m. at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds. The event is designed to help first responders provide safe electricity guidance to citizens while attendees also become familiar with the electric cooperatives’ electrical safety programs and resources.
In partnership with K.C. Electric Association, AirLife Emergency Medical/Critical Care Transport and local EMTs, MVEA will provide live electrical emergency demonstrations to first responders, elected officials, and area media during the event.
“We depend on many people and organizations in the community to ensure public safety needs are met on daily basis as we deliver safe, reliable electricity,” says Jim Herron, MVEA CEO. “Our first priority for this event is to educate first responders on how to properly respond to emergencies involving power line incidents. However, the need to keep industry workers safe stretches into public policy, which includes our elected officials who maintain budgets, which fund our emergency services.”
We hope you’ll join us at Live Wires and First Responders – just remember to stay in your car if you hit a power pole, until first responders tell you it’s safe.
