As we raise our glasses on August 2nd for International Beer Day, we're excited to spotlight a local gem in our service territory: Black Forest Brewery. Owned and operated by Donovan Routsis, Black Forest Brewery is a testament to community spirit, local partnerships, and the reliable electricity provided by MVEA.
"Electricity is absolutely critical for everything we do," says Donovan. From the very start of the brewing process, electricity plays a vital role, ensuring that every step of the brewing process is smooth sailing.
For Black Forest Brewery, the consistency of electricity is invaluable. "I honestly can't remember the last time we had an outage. It’s gotten so reliable that I don’t worry about it, and that as a business owner is critical," Donovan shares. This reliability allows the brewery to maintain routine timelines and quality control. Their commitment to a great community experience extends to their ambiance as well, with color-changing LED lights throughout the pub.
Donovan's journey into brewing began as a personal passion back in 1994. After years of perfecting his craft and traveling the world with the United States Air Force, he and his wife, Tara, decided to put down roots in Colorado. "When we decided to go forward with opening a brewery, we fell in love with Black Forest." Their brewery, with its handcrafted bar shelves made from reclaimed wood from the Black Forest Fire and its locally sourced ingredients, embodies their love for the community and craft brewing.
Stay tuned for information on our Brews, Brats, and Kilowatts events coming up in September. Capacity is limited, and RSVPs are required, so keep an eye out for details on how to join MVEA and Black Forest Brewery for this exciting event.
As we celebrate International Beer Day, let's raise a toast to the power of electricity that makes it all possible. Cheers!
