2 MVEA Board Members Recognized for Service

Martin celebrated 30 years of service; Hertneky has served 5.

Falcon, CO – Recently 2 of the 7 Mountain View Electric Association, Inc. (MVEA) Board Members have been recognized for their years of service and contributions to cooperative members.

Joe Martin Joe Martin has served on the MVEA Board of Directors since 1988 as the District 1 representative. He currently serves as the president of MVEA’s Board. Over the last 30 years, Mr. Martin has taken all the courses required to achieve the Credentialed Cooperative Director Certificate and the Board Leadership Certificate through National Rural Electric Cooperative Association’s (NRECA) Director Education Program. In 2013, Martin was elected to represent the State of Colorado on the NRECA board. He was re-elected to serve on the NRECA Board in 2015 and again in 2017. Martin says his many years of service has made him aware of the complexity of rural electric systems. He’s gained a comfort level in understanding these intricacies and always strives to serve MVEA members on critical issues.

Errol Hertneky has served the cooperative members and represented District 3 since 2013. He was elected shortly after the Black Forest Fire. During his time on the board, he’s achieved NRECA’s Credentialed Cooperative Director Certificate and, this September, will be recognized by NRECA for completing all requirements for the Board Leadership Certificate. He continues to advance his knowledge of electric cooperatives through NRECA’s Director Education Program. Hertneky cares deeply about being a productive board member and says members having reliable electricity is a top priority for him.

Both Martin and Hertneky were presented with their service awards at an MVEA Board meeting in September. They both look forward to many more years with the cooperative and serving members of MVEA.
