Martin will be representing all of Colorado’s Electric Cooperatives and, in his newly elected position, will have an influential voice as a Board officer.
Martin has served on the MVEA Board of Directors since 1988. He was first elected to represent the Electric Cooperatives of Colorado on the NRECA Board of Directors in 2013. He was re-elected to the NRECA Board for two-year terms in 2015, 2017, and 2019.
“We are extremely fortunate to have had such strong and thoughtful leaders help electric co-ops navigate the evolving energy landscape and the challenges of the last year,” said NRECA Chief Executive Officer Jim Matheson.
According to the NRECA, they are guided by a talented and engaged Board of Directors who are passionate about the cooperative purpose of powering communities and empowering co-op members to improve the quality of their lives. The NRECA 48-person board is comprised of one locally elected director from each state in which a voting member of NRECA is located.
“In the 25 years I’ve worked with Joe, he’s always put MVEA members first,” said Jim Herron, MVEA Chief Executive Officer. “He is dedicated to serving our cooperative community and the ever-changing needs of the membership.”
In addition to serving in a leadership role on the NRECA Board, Martin is also a Credentialed Cooperative Director and is Board Leadership Certified.
