Calling All High School Juniors and Seniors

Deadlines fast approaching for MVEA ‘s Leadership Trips and Scholarships!

Falcon, CO – Mountain View Electric Association, Inc. (MVEA) doesn’t just brighten homes, they brighten futures. This year, MVEA is sponsoring leadership-focused trips for 3 high school juniors and are awarding $25,000 in college scholarships.

For a chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime all-expenses paid trip, high school juniors are eligible with a 500-word essay on the following topic:

“You have just been named CEO of Mountain View Electric Association, Inc. – your community electric cooperative! As the new CEO, write about what you would do first in your new position. Explain your priorities and values and give the reasons why you feel that way.”

 The first-place winner will join over 1,800 students from across the U.S. in Washington D.C. for the Electric Cooperative Youth Tour. The second and third place winners are invited to the Colorado Electric Education Institute’s Youth Leadership Camp in the mountains outside of Steamboat Springs. Both trips will take place in the summer of 2019! Visit www.mvea.coop/essay-contest for contest qualifications and to complete an entry form. Essays are due by Monday, November 19, 2018.

 Your local electric cooperative will also be awarding $25,000 in scholarships this year. MVEA’s scholarship program includes scholarships to accredited colleges, universities, junior or community colleges, as well as a vocational/technical scholarship. NEW IN 2018! A Power Lineman Scholarship for students pursuing a career through a lineman training program, as well as a Power Engineer Scholarship for current college students pursuing a power engineering career.
