Kevin grew up helping operate his family’s ranch and dairy farm in the Ellicott community for over 20 years. Daily life on the farm and the influence of his father positioned him to succeed and gave him a strong and unwavering work ethic. Kevin graduated from Ellicott High School and continued to work diligently on the farm following graduation. He later pursued a career with Colorado Springs Utilities and completed course work through Colorado University of Boulder in water and wastewater treatment. Kevin has been employed by Colorado Springs Utilities for 29 years, and has been an Operations Supervisor in water treatment for the last 15 years.
Kevin has continually aspired to grow in his leadership capacities both professionally and personally. A few of the leadership programs and conferences he has been a part of include: American Water Works Association, Project Management Fundamentals, Leader to Leader, Dale Carnegie Leadership, and the Chic-Fil-A Leader Cast.
Kevin and Becky, his wife of 34 years, live in Ellicott. They have grown twin daughters and five grandchildren.
Kevin is a member of Church For All Nations in Colorado Springs, where he serves as an usher. Kevin also participates in the annual Community Focus Fund in conjunction with Salvation Army, serving underprivileged children in back-to-school clothes shopping.
In my first year as a Director, I have attended National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) and Colorado Rural Electric Association (CREA) conferences and training to obtain the Credentialed Cooperative Director (CCD) certification. I have met many fine Directors and members from cooperatives from across the region and nation at our national and regional conferences. I look forward to meeting the challenges ahead and continuing to serve the members of our Association. I earned my Credentialed Cooperative Director Certificate in December of 2020. My plans are to attain the remaining Director Certifications: The Board Leadership Certificate and Director Gold Credential.
Statement of Position:
As a lifelong member of the Ellicott community and MVEA District 5, I want to serve the members of not only my district, but MVEA members as a whole. I plan to do this by seeking to maintain safe, reliable, efficient, and affordable energy to MVEA members. I believe my knowledge in water treatment and currently serving over 411,000 customers by providing safe, reliable, and clean drinking water in which meets both state and federal regulations positions me to accomplish this goal for our members.
