Power Partner Program

The PowerPartner Program is designed to allow you to assist Mountain View Electric in conserving energy by permitting the Association to regulate the power supply to your electric water heater. This will help MVEA to lessen the impact of higher rates from its power supplier. (The supplier charges MVEA a premium rate during periods of high usage.) Among the many benefits:

• You'll receive $3 a month credit on your electric bill.
• There is no cost to you.
• MVEA's power bill will be lower, which will help to maintain stable electric rates.
• You'll help delay the need for building new generating plants.
• Your satisfaction is guaranteed.

How it works: When you sign up to be a PowerPartner, MVEA will install and maintain, at no cost to you, a load controller on your electric water heater. This will allow MVEA to control the water heater electronically through specialized equipment. On high use days (3-4 times a month) this equipment will automatically shut off your water heater intermittently for up to two hours. Since most water heaters will retain their temperature for several hours, the brief interruption should have no effect on your family's lifestyle or the availability of hot water.

To enroll: If you have an electric water heater, call or visit our office today to sign up. A licensed electrician will install the load control device on your electric water heater. That's all there is to it. You will then receive a $3 credit on your MVEA bill each month you are in the program.
