69th Annual Meeting of Members
Limon High School was the place to be on June 3 for MVEA’s 69th Annual Meeting of Members. Prior to the meeting, attendees were offered the opportunity to view Limon from a different perspective by taking a ride in one of MVEA’s bucket trucks. Displays booths from Tri-State G&T and MVEA were also available for our members to ask questions and learn about new technology. Dinner was served to everyone by MVEA employees and drinks served by the Limon FFA. The FFA also helped set up and disassemble the meeting area and provided babysitting services. Brenda Higgins entertained during dinner.
After board president Joe Martin opened the meeting and welcomed members, retired Director Naomi Malcom, who served on the board for 30 years, gave the invocation. Brenda and Ashley Higgins inspired everyone with their beautiful rendition of the National Anthem.
President Martin conducted the election of the board. While ballots were counted, the rest of the meeting continued. Essay contest and scholarship winners were announced and President Martin and General Manager Jim Herron gave their reports on the state of the cooperative and legislative issues that could affect MVEA’s rates.
Periodically throughout the meeting, $2,100 in door prizes were awarded, in addition to a $150 ballot prize for members who voted by mail, a $50 gift card to Lowe’s provided by Western United Supply and the flower arrangements from the meeting. Following is a list of our winners. Congratulations.
