Staking Technician

Mountain View Electric has a job opening for a full-time Staking Technician at its Falcon Operations Center.  The position performs a variety of engineering tasks, including, but not limited to, designing construction and retirement of the distribution electric system. The ideal candidate should be interested in challenging assignments and will be responsible for single and three-phase designs of overhead and underground electric distribution systems for commercial and residential areas while maintaining good customer relations; have an understanding of  electric distribution systems; experience with office and engineering software; ability to read, interpret and understand construction specifications, safety rules, procedure manuals, easements and legal descriptions. Must be a self-motivated individual with a high level of accuracy and the ability to analyze and draw conclusions. Candidate must have the ability to interpret a variety of technical instruction in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.  Applicant must have a valid driver’s license and a current First Aid and CPR card.  Applicant must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol test and pre-employment physical in addition to random drug/alcohol testing and background check. Must be 18 years of age or older; be a high school graduate or equivalent.  Two years of field experience designing and staking single and three-phase distribution systems with an electric utility is preferred.  Apprentice Lineman

Mountain View Electric Association has two job openings for an Apprentice Lineman; one is stationed at the Falcon Operations Center east of Colorado Springs at Falcon, Colorado, and one is stationed at the Limon Headquarters in Limon, Colorado. Applicants must have a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License, a good motor vehicle record, and a current First Aid and CPR card. Applicant must have completed a groundman training program or its equivalent and demonstrate proficiency in pole top/bucket rescue.  Applicant must be able to complete a 4 year Apprentice Program, successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol test and pre-employment physical, a DOT physical, and random drug/alcohol testing. Must be 18 years of age or older; be a high school graduate or possess a Certificate of Equivalency (GED). Must be able to read and interpret safety rules, staking sheets, operating and maintenance manuals, instructions, procedure manuals, add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Applicants must be able to climb poles and operate heavy equipment.
