Milton L. Mathis

Position: Secretary-Treasurer
(Board Member since 1987 and
re-election year is 2012)
District: District 4
Background: Mathis is retired as president of Farmers State Bank of Calhan. He held that position for 14 years. From 1969 to 1986 he served in various positions in the bank ranging from agricultural field man to senior vice-president. Prior to 1969, he was employed as the assistant county supervisor and county supervisor, respectively with FMHA offices in Fort Collins and Burlington, and as manager of the Douglas County Grain Elevator in Castle Rock. Mathis received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture from Colorado State University and is a graduate of the Colorado School of Banking. Mathis and his wife, Mary, have two grown children and three grandchildren.
Memberships/Community Service: Past president of Calhan Lions Club, Past Master of Ramah Masonic Lodge 165, and attends the Cowboy Church of Peyton.
Board Experience: Member of the Board of Directors of MVEA since 1987 and is currently serving as Secretary Treasurer, Past Vice President of Mountain View Service Corp., chairman of the Education Committee and serves on the Budget, Policy and Wage and Salary committees. He has completed the required coursework for Certified Cooperative Director certification. Mathis served on the Board of Directors of Farmers State Bank of Calhan for 30+ years, served two terms on the Calhan Town Board and is past director of Independent Bankers of Colorado.
Statement of Position: "I believe it is important for MVEA to be operated in a financially responsible manner and strive to provide reliable electrical service while maintaining the lowest possible rates. We must posture MVEA for the future by utilizing renewable energy to the extent that it is feasible. We also must promote energy efficiency to help conserve our resources and protect the environment. I believe that the 30+ years of banking experience and the years that I have served on the MVEA board help to attain these ideals."
